Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza has said that maintenance of law and order and action against criminals is the responsibility of police which should act against criminals and anti-social and anti-state elements without discrimination.

He was talking to a 30-member delegation of ANP, led by its Provincial President Shahi Syed, which met him here on Monday. The Minister said that stringent measures are being taken to weed out black sheeps from police department and whosoever officer or employee will be found involved in excess against citizens, will not be spared. He appealed to citizens to identify such elements in the police so that supremacy of law could be ensured.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, Dr Zulfikar said that the delegation had apprehensions and reservations for which the meeting was called immediately and they were assured that government will ensured establishment of law at all cost by remaining above all prejudices.

He said the delegation had pin pointed a few police excesses on which he ordered CCPO an immediate inquiry and submission of report.The government, Home Minister said, will provide security to citizens as well as facility of employment. To a question, he said that relief cheques will soon be issued to affected families of terrorism on Ashura day.
